I have long admired photos of paper roses; drawn to those made from the pages of books. I never thought about how easy it would be to make them myself. I saw bags of paper roses for sale on Etsy and it dawned on me to look for DIY tutorials. I give those Etsy sellers credit–it would take a long time to make a bag of these!
Making a paper rose is as simple as picking out a thick paper, cutting a spiral circle, rolling it to the center, and gluing the base in place with a hot glue gun. It also occurred to me that you could use doubled sided tape to secure the base to the wound up “flower.” Truth be told, the glued roses look much neater and hold together better–but if you only have double sided tape it will work just fine. I used one glue stick (for my mini glue gun) for four roses. I highly recommend pre-cutting the roses and winding them up to cut down on hot glue lost.
I love the look of these paper roses! I only went as far as creating the roses. I plan on using them decoratively for a special gift, but they would look great glued to pretty paper and placed in a frame, attached to wire & bound with floral tape or set in a bowl. This is a great gift or decorative touch for all of the book lovers in your life! I highly recommend this project.
