FolkArt is really impressing me this year! First I tried out the Color Shift Acrylics and now I am loving their new Brushed Metal Paints! The paints retail at $3.99 for 2 oz. at Michaels. I grabbed 4 of the 10 Brushed Metal Paints on sale (Buy 1 Get 1 50% off.) I already have several gold toned acrylic paints so I went for the Brushed Rose Gold, Brushed Copper, Brushed Bronze, and the Brushed Silver. Now I am thinking that these paints are so pigmented, metallic, and gorgeous that I could pick up the gold!
The Brushed Metal acrylics are matte, water-based, non-toxic, and they are good on outdoor and indoor projects. The paints have an intense metallic color with a hint of beautiful shimmer. I tried them on glass gems, paper, ceramic tile, a dollar store “plant,” seashells, metal nuts, and aluminum foil. All of the paints have decent opacity. The Rose Gold was the least opaque but after 2 coats it is gorgeous!

Glass Gems & Metal Nuts
When applying the paints to the glass gems, I used a small brush to stamp on the paint where I wanted it and then brushed over the paint. Paint doesn’t always want to cover glass as easily as other projects but dabbing on a thick layer and then spreading it works well.
Paper & Foil
When I heard that some of my family was venturing down to Florida, I asked my Mom to bring back some shells. She grabbed these interesting pieces and I don’t know what I will use them on–yet–but I love how they look with the Brushed Metal Paints!
$1 Store Plant
The Brushed Metal Paints are easy to apply, dry to a matte metallic finish, and are completely unique in my collection of acrylic paints. I applied two coats for all of my projects. The first coat is nice but when the second coat is applied, the projects come to life. I really like these paints & am interested in trying the other colors!
